Sharad Pawar: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar was shifted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Monday after his health deteriorated at his residence in Baramati. The veteran leader complained of coughing and breathing discomfort, prompting doctors to advise immediate medical evaluation.
According to sources from Sharad Pawar’s office, the decision to move him to Pune was taken after he experienced persistent coughing and difficulty in breathing. The 85-year-old opposition leader was transported by road, with his convoy leaving Baramati and heading towards the city.
Visuals from the route showed Pawar’s convoy passing through Loni Kalbhor on its way to the hospital.
Officials familiar with the matter said Sharad Pawar is suspected to be suffering from a throat infection, which led to his condition worsening. He was taken to Ruby Hall Clinic for detailed examination and appropriate treatment.
A close aide said the move was precautionary to ensure specialised medical care and constant monitoring.
Confirming Sharad Pawar’s arrival, Ruby Hall Clinic’s chief cardiologist and managing trustee, Dr Parvez Grant, said a team of doctors would assess his condition and determine the next course of action. “Once he reaches the hospital, doctors will examine him and decide further treatment,” he said.
Sharad Pawar, a former Union minister and one of Maharashtra’s most influential political figures, has continued to remain active in public life despite age-related health concerns in recent years. Further updates on his health are awaited.
