Kolkata Knight Riders have added Navdeep Saini to their squad as a replacement for Harshit Rana, who was injured just before IPL 2026. Rana was out with a right knee ligament strain, which he got during the T20 World Cup, and it has resulted in further weakening of KKR’s bowling department. The franchise is also grappling with injuries to Akash Deep and Matheesha Pathirana; on the other hand, Mustafizur Rahman has been left out of the squad.

Navdeep Saini expressed his excitement, saying, “In a way, it felt like I had already envisioned this moment. I always believed it would happen someday, and keeping faith in God made it feel truly special when it finally came.” Saini returns to the IPL after a gap since 2023, bringing much-needed experience to KKR. The right-arm pacer debuted for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2019, having been initially picked by Delhi Daredevils in 2017, and quickly gained a reputation for his pace and aggressive, hit-the-deck bowling.

Navdeep Saini is making his comeback to IPL after a gap of three years in 2023. He may not have played a lot lately, but Saini can still bring a lot of expertise to the table for KKR. The right-arm pacer made his first appearance for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2019, while he was first picked by Delhi Daredevils back in 2017. He very soon became known for his raw pace and attacking bowling. In a total of 32 IPL matches that he has played, Saini has taken 23 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 8.88. Following short spells with RCB, he shifted to Rajasthan Royals, where he was last seen in 2023. The Rajasthan team bagged him for INR 2.60 crore in the 2024 auction, but he remained unsold before IPL 2026, and now he is with KKR as a seasoned Indian pace player in their injury-hit team.

Navdeep Saini IPL Stats

Navdeep Saini has played 32 IPL matches so far, claiming 23 wickets with an economy rate of 8.88. He began his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) before moving to Rajasthan Royals, where he last featured in 2023.

Rajasthan had purchased him for INR 2.60 crore at the 2024 auction, but he went unsold ahead of IPL 2026. KKR has now drafted him as a replacement, providing the franchise with an experienced Indian pacer to bolster their injury-hit bowling lineup.

KKR schedule

The Knights, who missed the playoffs last season, will open their 2026 campaign against five-time champions Mumbai Indians on March 29 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
