The last date to link Aadhaar with PAN Card is near, and users are rushing to link the two identification cards. The last date to link their PAN and Aadhaar card is 31st December. Those who fail to link their Aadhaar card to PAN would be charged a late fee of Rs.1000.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to link Aadhaar card with PAN
Step 1: Visit the e-filing portal of income tax, login to the portal
Step 2: Click on the ‘link Aadhaar’ option in the ‘profile’ section of the website
Step 3: Enter PAN and Aadhaar Number and click on ‘continue to pay through e-pay tax page
Step 4: Click on ‘proceed’
Step 5: Select the relevant Assessment year and the type of payments as ‘other Receipts’
Step 6: Click on continue, and after successful payment, revisit the ‘link Aadhaar’ page
Step 7: By revisiting the page and filling required details, users can submit the PAN-Aadhaar link request
As per the government’s rulings, linking both documents is mandatory for every citizen. Those users who are applying for new PAN card they have to go for mandatory Aadhaar based verification.
After the 31st December 2025, the deadline of linking Aadhaar card and PAN card will end and after that users need to pay a late fee of Rs.1000 if they have not linked their PAN card with Aadhaar card.
Further, UIDAI earlier introduced provisions for digital know your customer (KYC) processes this year.
The major purpose of linking PAN with Aadhaar card is to create a more transparent and secure financial ecosystem in the country. This process will eliminate the Duplicate and fake PAN cards; it will help in curbing tax evasion and black money, and it will simplify the tax filling process.
