India says that it is monitoring reports of a second Chinese bridge on the Pangong, However, it is unclear whether the bridge is new or an extension of a previous one. Reacting to reports of a bridge across Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Thursday said he is aware of reports that a bridge is coming up across the Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh.

Bagchi added that he is not sure if it is the second bridge or an expansion of the existing one. Refusing to comment from the military perspective, he said the area being referred to is most likely occupied and that such developments are being monitored by India.

When asked to comment on India’s ties with China, he said the two nations continue to remain engaged militarily and diplomatically, further asserting that talks on with the Chinese side.

He also emphasised that the friction and tensions that arise from China’s deployments since April 2020 cannot be reconciled with a normal relationship between the two neighbours.
