Market on Monday | Nifty Slides From Record High, Sensex Dips
The Indian stock markets opened the week with a bang, where Nifty reached a new high of 26,373.20 during morning trading, but at the same time, the increase was limited in the first part of the session. Due to the escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela, the selling pressure rose during the latter part of the day, and Nifty ended up at around 26,250 while the Sensex closed at 85,439.62, losing 322 points.
The broader markets experienced Nifty Midcap and Bank indices reaching new highs in terms of intraday. The top gainers were Nestle India, Bharat Electronics, Eicher Motors, Asian Paints, and Tata Steel. However, HDFC Bank, Infosys, Wipro, and ONGC did not perform well. Indexes of real estate, consumer durables, metals, and FMCG recorded significant growth.
