According to IMD (the India Meteorological Department), on April 26, 2026, India experienced mixed weather patterns, including heatwaves, thunderstorms, rain, and even snowfall across some locations on the continent. The weather in Ahmedabad is representative of this broader trend because, while continuing to have intense heat throughout much of western India, and therefore continuing to prepare for rain and storms.

The most recent western disturbance has become the primary cause of all the weather changes and disturbances that you are seeing in NW India, including rain and snowfall in the hilly regions of the country, and extreme heat in the plains region of the country. Overall, Ahmedabad continues to have a hot weather pattern as it aligns with the broader heatwave warnings issued by the IMD in the western and central parts of the country.

Weather Ahmedabad highlights heatwave as storms hit other regions

In the northern and central parts of India, heat waves are expected to be present in those areas for the next several days. Cities such as Delhi and its neighbouring regions will continue to experience heat with hazy skies, while parts of UP and Rajasthan will experience higher heat than anywhere else on the continent.

Additionally, the Indian Meteorological Department has also issued warnings of thunderstorms and high winds across multiple states. Reports indicate that there may be thunderstorm activity affecting as many as 12 states with wind gusts up to 70 km/h, possibly with lightning and rain. This further emphasizes that weather ahmedabad is much warmer than other places that see many changes in their climate.

Weather Ahmedabad contrasts with rain in southern and eastern cities

In the south east region of India, cities such as Mumbai are expecting partly cloudy skies with a potential for light rain, while Chennai will continue to experience very warm and muggy conditions.Restrictions on rain in the form of cloud cover are also being reported around Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with both cities possibly receiving some precipitation (with the exception of Bengaluru where it is anticipated to shower in the evenings).

Thunderstorms and high humidity are also being experienced in eastern India, such as in Kolkata. Some of the highland areas of India, including Jammu and Kashmir, may also receive snowfall or rain due to the western disturbance. This contrast to many of the other parts of India reinforces the continued heat that weather ahmedabad sees.

Weather Ahmedabad reflects rising temperatures in western India

Western India is experiencing some of the hottest temperatures in India. In ahmedabad, temperatures are currently above 42°c and are trending higher, likely peaking at close to 43°c in the near future.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures across the inland regions of Gujarat will range from 41°C to 43°C while coastal areas should experience similar or slightly lower temperatures over the same period of time. The current weather in Ahmedabad supports this trend and conveys how heat is dominating across most of the country despite there being different weather activities occurring in other parts of the Indian subcontinent.

Weather Ahmedabad and nationwide alerts show mixed conditions

The IMD has stated that India is having widely variable weather patterns this week. While certain parts of the country are experiencing extreme heat conditions (i.e., heat waves), there are also parts of the country experiencing thunderstorms and rain events with windy conditions.

Government officials are advising people to be cautious, particularly those living in areas experiencing extreme heat and/or storm activity. The weather in Ahmedabad is representative of how western India continues to struggle with excessive heat while much of the rest of the country experiences much different weather patterns.

Weather Ahmedabad outlook remains hot despite changing systems

To sum up, heat wave conditions will remain in place across many parts of India for several days to come before any significant cooling occurs across the nation. Rain and thunderstorms will cause temporary cooling across some parts of the country, but will not provide sufficient cooling throughout the entire country.

Since western disturbances are still affecting weather patterns, all parts of the country can continue to experience an extreme mix. In terms of weather ahmedabad, the forecast says it will remain hot, so ahmedabad residents have been warned to take safety measures to protect themselves from increasing temperatures and heat-related stress.
