Tata Punch EV facelift launched in India
Tata Motors has launched the facelifted Tata Punch EV in India at a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh (ex‑showroom), and the updated electric SUV is already getting a lot of attention. This is the first major update to the Punch EV since it first came out, and Tata has made changes in the design, battery options, and real‑world usability that could make it even more appealing to buyers looking for an affordable electric car.
The biggest highlight of the new Punch EV facelift is its claimed real‑world range of 355 km from the new battery setup, supported by a 40 kWh battery pack in the Long Range variant. Tata claim that this larger battery also delivers an ARAI‑certified range of up to 468 km on a single charge, which is a strong figure for a compact EV in this price segment.
The Punch EV facelift has received subtle design updates. The SUV keeps its familiar, boxy shape but gets small changes to the front fascia and lighting that give it a fresher look. The core design is still practical and urban‑friendly, with good ground clearance and rugged cladding that matches the Punch’s character.
On the features front, Tata hasn’t just relied on the range numbers. The facelifted Punch EV now offers faster charging thanks to support for 65 kW DC fast charging, which Tata claims can take the battery from 20 % to 80 % in about 26 minutes. Even a quick 15‑minute charge can add up to 135 km of range, making it more practical for daily use and occasional highway trips.
The company has also launched a Battery‑as‑a‑Service (BaaS) plan. Under this option, customers can reduce the upfront purchase price by subscribing to the battery instead of buying it outright, with a battery EMI at around Rs 2 per km. This makes the Punch EV more affordable for many first‑time EV buyers who might be worried about higher initial prices.
In terms of interior, the Punch EV facelift offers a more modern experience with a larger infotainment screen, updated interior trims, and utility‑focused features like wireless charging and connected car technology. Tata has also ensured safety the safety of car, so standard elements like multiple airbags, stability control, and tyre‑pressure monitoring continue to be part of the package.
Tata’s refreshed Punch EV facelift aims to balance daily‑life usability, technology, and affordability, making it a strong competitor in India’s price focused EV market.
