In 1991, Rodney Rogers arrived at Wake Forest and immediately lifted the basketball program. He earned the nickname “Durham Bull” in high school due to his strength and intensity. Rodney Roger was named ACC Freshman of the Year and played a key role in leading Wake Forest back to the NCAA Tournament after a seven-year absence, establishing himself as one of the conference’s standout players.

Later, he earned First Team All-ACC honours, and in 1993, he was awarded ACC Player of the Year and First Team All-American recognition while guiding the team to the Sweet 16. He remains the only player in Wake Forest history to have won both ACC Freshman of the Year and ACC Player of the Year.
