According to a statement from the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office, North Korea has fired a ballistic missile. According to a defence source cited by the news agency, Pyongyang fired what seemed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) eastward on Friday.
The office of the Japanese prime minister tweeted, “North Korea is on high alert after what seems to be a ballistic missile launch. More updates to come.” North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile, according to a previous Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) statement from South Korea. The specifics of the ballistic missile were not included in the JCS. According to a source who spoke to the news agency under the condition of anonymity, the early research carried out by the military suggests that it is an intercontinental ballistic missile.
This move comes after North Korea’s foreign minister, Choe Son-hui, threatened to use “fiercer” military force against regional allies if Washington did not strengthen its “extended deterrence” pledge.
Fumio Kishida, the prime minister of Japan, has ordered authorities to guarantee the security of all assets, including ships, planes, and other assets. He has stated that authorities must take all safeguards. He has directed the officials to gather, examine, and share pertinent information.

North Korea launched one short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) into the East Sea earlier on Thursday, November 17. The Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) of South Korea claimed to have discovered the launch. According to the report, the ballistic missile was fired at 10:48 am from the Kangwon province neighbourhood of Wonsan (local time).
The missile travelled over 240 kilometres at a peak speed of Mach 4 and an apogee of about 47 kilometres, according to South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff. In a text message to journalists, the JCS referred to North Korean ballistic missile launches as “major provocations” that jeopardise both regional and global peace and stability.
In a text message to reporters, South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff said, “The series of North Korean ballistic missile launches are acts of significant provocation that undermine peace and stability not only on the Korean Peninsula but also in the international community, and a clear violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions.” Yonhap news agency reported this statement.
