A 25-year-old female student at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) who was studying acting was discovered dead in her dorm room on Thursday. 2019 saw the enrollment of the Uttarakhandi girl in the program’s film acting diploma programme.
In the past month, there have been two suspected suicides at the prestigious institution. On August 6, a student studying cinematography named Ashwin Shukla committed suicide within the dorm.
Investigating officers from the Deccan Police Station believe the girl committed suicide. “A student from the Screen Acting class of 2019 was discovered deceased in her dorm room this afternoon. The student’s tragic passing is lamented by the FTII community. The local police are looking into the situation, according to a statement from the FTII administration.
Murlidhar Karpe, a senior police officer, claims that the girl missed class on Thursday. The incident was discovered this morning after the teachers decided to inspect her room. There was no note left by suicide. There is currently an investigation, the man claimed.
A police squad arrived at FTII soon after the event and brought the girl’s body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. According to the law, a case of unintentional death was filed about the occurrence at the Deccan police station.
The student who took her own life on Thursday was two years older than Ashwin Shukla, 32, a Goan. Near Shukla’s body, no suicide note was discovered. The authorities believe he was depressed.
