NEWSX EDITORIAL GUIDELINES 2025

Editorial Guidelines – Our Commitment to Truth and Integrity

We believe in providing news that educates, illuminates and empowers our readers at NewsX. Our editorial policies form the guide that keeps us on track in a rapidly evolving world: they determine who we are going to publish, how we publish and who we say should be heard in the story. Having our work grounded in integrity, transparency, and accountability will give us the trust of an audience, and the accountability that attaches to that trust of being a publicly available source of information.

Who We Are

NewsX is India’s fastest growing English News Channel and a digital asset that enjoys the highest viewership and highest time spent amongst educated urban Indians. NewsX is the News Leader and sets the news agenda for the nation, with its crisp formats, straightforward reporting, pointed debates, trending hashtags, and engaging mix of stories. It offers maximum news and continues to lead.

HOW DO WE OPERATE

How do we cover breaking news?

Breaking news is fast, but we never compromise a story by being fast. We confirm each fact with at least two sources and provide real-time information feeds, and update constantly as new information arises. Every detail is well-timed and marked with a time to show how the story changed.

How do we cover sensitive news?

NewsX is compassionate and discreet when approaching stories that are about trauma, loss, and other sensitive topics. We seek advice from the subject-matter authorities, we follow the rules of using respectful language, and we provide content warnings where relevant. We also offer materials to the readers who might be impacted by the coverage.

How do we cover disaster news?

Urgent yet emphatic is the nature of disaster reporting. When it is safe to do so, we put on-ground reporters on the field, rely on exclusive images and official emergency data, and prioritise community-focused angles.

Credibility Through Author Bylines

All the articles have a distinct byline that shows the name of the author, credentials and in cases that are necessary, their area of specialty. The visibility of the contributor makes the readers trust in the opinion and effort behind the writing.

Unbiased Coverage

Our editorial standards permit neutrality of coverage. We use no sensationalism, we do not inject personal views, and we do not introduce both sides of an issue in an impartial, rigorous manner. The bias is constantly checked by way of a systematic review.

Attribution and Copyright

Attribution is always be done correctly. All the images, quotes, statistics, and ideas, which are not ours, are referrered to their origin as required by copyright regulations and journalism ethics.

Editorial Review

Any story that happens to reach publication undergoes an official editorial review. Editors check facts, tone, style, and conformity to our guidelines. The two step review process, which is first done by a senior editor, and then a peer reviewer is used, guarantees uniformity and quality.

Types of content we produce

Our content is a wide range of hard news, investigations, feature stories, opinion columns, multimedia reporting, and data-driven analysis. Both formats are geared towards what the story requires as well as our usual standards of accuracy and integrity.

Unbiased Reporting

It is called unbiased reporting where both sides of the story are covered without allowing personal ideologies or outside pressure to influence the story. We undertake to provide evidence, voice all the concerned parties and not editorializing unless it is clearly stated as an opinion piece.

Feedback Mechanism

Correction, clarification or any other concerns can be made through a special feedback portal by the readers. All submissions are recorded, read and responded to in the next 48 hours. Amendments are made publicly, and a note of the corrections made, and the reason why.

Fact‑checking

Any claims that are factual are subject to a strict fact-checking process. We triangulate with primary, official and subject matter triangulation. The discrepancies are addressed prior to publication, and uncertainties are marked as such, with transparency.

Sourcing

Our sources of information are primary, credible secondary and the use of specialized databases. All sources are rated in terms of credibility, relevance, and conflicts. There are few anonymous sources that are always corroborated.

Zero‑Plagiarism Policy

We do not allow any form of plagiarism. In cases of drafting or editing of AI tools, the text is revised, fact-checked, and paraphrased to look like it was written in the original language. Any content generated by AI is noted specifically and the usage of the latter is revealed in the editorial policy.

Social media policy

How we promote and share the stories in our social media is controlled by our social media policy. The posts are also fact-read and labeled with tags and filtered on harassment or hate speech. We promote constructive interaction; we do not cross professional lines.

Amplifying Diverse Voices Across the Board

We are also open to a diverse group of contributors based on their background, culture, or perspective. Our bylines are diverse, our coverage topics are diverse, and even our editorial board is diverse. We augment under-represented voices and this adds value and meaningfulness to our news.
