Bank Holidays In September 2025: State-Wise Complete List of Holidays

In September 2025, banks across India will remain closed on various days, totaling up to 15 holidays. According to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI's) calendar, here is the list of regional festivals, state-specific observances, and regular weekend holidays.

In September 2025, banks across India will remain closed on various days, totaling up to 15 holidays. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) calendar, here is the list of regional festivals, state-specific observances, and regular weekend holidays. 

According to the RBI, banks will remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, along with all Sundays. While in-branch services will be unavailable on these days, customers can still use digital banking for transactions.

Festival Holidays 

  • September 3 (Wednesday): Karma Puja in Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh
  • September 4 (Thursday): First day of Onam in Kerala
  • September 5 (Friday): Eid-e-Milad – observed in several states, including Kerala and Maharashtra
  • September 6 (Saturday): Indrajatra in Sikkim and related observances in other regions

State/Union Territory-Wise Bank Holidays

  • September 12 (Friday): Jammu & Kashmir – Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi
  • September 23 (Tuesday): Jammu & Kashmir – Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji
  • September 29 (Monday): Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal – Maha Saptami/Durga Puja
  • September 30 (Tuesday): Tripura, Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand – Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami/Durga Puja
