India clinched a thrilling victory over Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2025, marking their ninth title in the tournament’s history. The final, played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, saw India chase down a target of 147 runs in just 19.4 overs.

Chasing 147, India lost their top three batters for just 20 runs in the first four overs, leaving the Men in Blue under pressure. However, left-handed batter Tilak Varma played a calm and controlled innings, scoring an unbeaten 69 from 53 balls. His performance guided India to victory.

Tilak shared a 57-run stand for the fourth wicket with Sanju Samson, who contributed 24 runs, and a 60-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Shivam Dube, who scored 33 from 22 balls. Rinku Singh sealed the win with a boundary off the fourth ball of the 20th over bowled by Haris Rauf, giving India a five-wicket win.

For Pakistan, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was the standout performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in four overs.

Earlier, Pakistan had made a strong start, with openers Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46) putting on 84 runs in just 9.4 overs. However, after Farhan’s dismissal, Pakistan’s innings collapsed, with the last nine batters managing only 62 more runs. India’s bowlers were relentless, led by Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed 4 wickets for 30 runs in his four overs. Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel took two wickets each, restricting Pakistan to 146 all out in 19.1 overs.

This win not only extends India’s record in the Asia Cup but also adds another memorable chapter to the intense India-Pakistan cricket rivalry. Tilak Varma’s composed performance under pressure will be remembered as the defining moment of the final.
