The second round of raids on the Popular Front of India (PFI) is being conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other investigation agencies. The NIA persisted in its campaign against the extremist group.
PFI raids are taking place in eight different states. Additionally, some PFI members have been apprehended.
Numerous crucial pieces of information were obtained during the initial series of raids’ interrogations of PFI leaders, according to information obtained from NIA sources. Police and other investigation agencies are conducting raids in eight states based on information provided by the NIA.
21 PFI members have been apprehended across 8 Assam districts. The eight districts are Goalpara, Kamrup, Barpeta, Dhubri, Bagsa, Darrang, udalguri, and Karimganj. Raids that began this morning are still going on.
Up to 60 PFI members were detained in Karnataka under the auspices of “preventive custody.” They will be brought before the tehsildar in the area, where they will ask for judicial detention and be imprisoned. These PFI members had either disrupted local peace previously or had stopped NIA employees and protested.
Under PAR, everyone is detained (Preventive Action Report). The local tehsildar should get a bond surety from them. They won’t engage in any criminal actions that will undermine social peace. They ought to behave properly at all times.
In the early hours, Karnataka police detained the District PFI President and SDPI secretary. Both the SDPI secretary Shaik Masqsood and the PFI district president Abdul Kareem were detained. To prevent any unforeseen occurrence and protest, they are being held in preventive detention.
The police in Mangalore also arrested a few SDPI and PFI members. Under the 107 151 Crpc, certain people are in preventive custody situations.
Additionally, the police in the Kolar area have detained six PFI members under preventive detention. Ashfaq Jamkhandi, the district president of the PFI, was taken into prison by the police in Vijaypura.
PFI Leader Afhan Ali was detained in Chitradurga on a preventative detention warrant, whilst Bellary district detained four members of the hardline group.
Two PFI leaders were detained in preventive detention in Chamrajnagara. The people detained in Chamrajnagara are Secretary Suhaib and PFI district president Kapil.
Six PFI supporters have been held in Pune by the state police for questioning over the purported money. This police operation is in collaboration with nationwide raids by the ATS and NIA.
Sources claim that since late last night, raids have been taking place at Meerut’s Lisri Gate, Siana, and Sarurpur in Uttar Pradesh. Several individuals have been detained in Sitapur, Bulandshahr, and Meerut.
Since late Monday night, PFI-related raids have been taking place in numerous parts of Delhi, including Shaheen Bagh and Jamia. During the raids, some 12 persons have been taken into custody.
Earlier on September 22, searches were conducted against PFI at 93 sites across 15 states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar, and Manipur.
The ED, NIA, and state police have detained over 100 PFI members and associates in a variety of instances.
Following persistent input and evidence that they were involved in funding terrorism and terrorist activities, organising camps to provide arms training, and radicalising people to join prohibited organisations, searches were carried out at the homes and offices of top PFI leaders and members in connection with five cases registered by the NIA.
