The national football team is currently managed by Hong Myung-bo, who is a former captain of the South Korea national football team. In the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar, South Korea advanced to the Round of 16, beating Portugal 2-1 in the group stage. However, South Korea was knocked out of the tournament by Brazil.
