Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori captured the spotlight at the US Open on Wednesday (August 20) evening, defeating Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek to successfully defend their mixed doubles title. The Italian duo sealed a thrilling 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 win, dropping only one set throughout the tournament.

Their teamwork and chemistry were on full display not just in the final, but throughout their title run.

A Rally to Remember in the Semifinals

One standout moment came during their semifinal clash against Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison. Leading 40-15 in the second set at 2-2, Vavassori delivered a brilliant sequence of shots during a tense rally that left the crowd stunned. The Italian duo closed out that match 4-2, 4-2, further asserting their dominance and entertaining fans with their aggressive and creative doubles play.

Following their victory, Vavassori spoke emotionally about their partnership: “I want to say thanks to my partner. We are doing something amazing these two years.
