According to officials, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has received letters from the Agra Municipal Corporation demanding it to pay property taxes and water bills for the famous Taj Mahal.
A notice for water tax and one for property tax have been issued, said ASI authorities. As water tax, the ASI has been ordered to pay between Rs. 1.40 lakh and Rs. 1 crore.
Raj Patel, the Supervising Archaeologist for ASI’s Agra Circle, stated to the news agency, “There has been a notification issued for both the water tax and the property tax.
Property tax is approximately Rs. 1.40 lakh and water tax is approximately Rs 1 crore “.
