A body was found by the Uttar Pradesh police which was missing a head in Parikshitgarh of a 22-year old man. UP Police has detained six Muslim men linked to this purported Taliban-style beheading of the young man known as Deepak Tyagi.
Deepak had gone missing two days ago after he had gone to the fields with a house-help according to the family. He was the youngest of his other five siblings.
The 22-year old’s torso was recovered from a sugarcane field, and police reached the site and collected the prime evidence from the crime scene. Deepak’s identity was confirmed only by his family since they recognised the clothes he wore.
Protests were held by the villagers, fuming in anger after the discovery of Deepak’s death. SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan, SP Dehat Keshav Kumar, SP Crime Anit Kumar, and CO Amit Rai arrived at the crime scene and interacted with the residents.
It is suspected that the killers are from a nearby village, possibly Ahmedpur Badala. According to a report, Deepak had an affair with a hairdresser’s daughter from another community, and police have taken the girl’s relatives into custody.
According to SP Keshav Kumar, Deepak Tyagi had two FIRs registered under his name for criminal intimidation in the past. SP Keshav Kumar said, “Prima facie it looks like a murder over personal enmity; we are interrogating the suspects for a possible direction towards cracking this blind murder.”
However, the angry villagers are holding demonstrations nearby. Some people are also aiding authorities in their efforts to find the head.
