The social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, faced a major outage on Tuesday, leaving millions of users unable to view posts or upload new ones. According to early reports, the issue began due to a large-scale outage at Cloudflare, a company that provides key internet infrastructure services.

Cloudflare supports countless websites and online platforms, helping them run smoothly and stay secure. When Cloudflare experiences a disruption, many websites that rely on it often face problems at the same time.

Users visiting websites linked to Cloudflare were shown an error message that read, “internal server error on Cloudflare’s network, please try again in a few minutes.” The outage reportedly started around 5 pm IST and quickly spread across multiple services.

Cloudflare later confirmed the technical issue on its website. The company said it was investigating a problem that was affecting several of its customers. It also assured users that more updates would be shared once additional information became available.

In a fresh update, Cloudflare said it had deployed a fix that restored dashboard services. The company added that Cloudflare Access and WARP, two of its major products, had returned to pre-outage levels. However, Cloudflare also noted that it was still working to fully resolve the broader service impact.

This disruption comes just days after a major outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS) that affected platforms such as Amazon, Snapchat, and WhatsApp. The AWS issue was traced to one of its oldest data centres in Virginia, USA. The outage had caused a failure in the Domain Name System (DNS), which helps users connect to websites, making hundreds of services temporarily unavailable.
