US Israel War Against Iran: The confrontation between the United States, Israel and Iran intensified sharply on Monday, with Tehran launching a new wave of missile and drone attacks after a brief overnight lull. The latest escalation follows large-scale US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets over the weekend, pushing the region deeper into a widening conflict.
Saudi Arabia’s state oil giant Aramco, opens new tab shut its Ras Tanura refinery after it was hit by a drone, an industry source said on Monday, an apparent escalation on the third day of strikes across the region launched by Tehran in response to the US-Israeli attack on Iran.
Multiple media outlets, including Russia Today, Press TV and Israel’s i24 News, reported a drone strike at Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura refining facility in Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s largest oil export hubs and a key artery for global crude supplies.
According to reports cited by The Jerusalem Post, a small and isolated fire broke out at the Ras Tanura refinery following the drone strike earlier in the day. The blaze was later brought under control.
Iranian state media also claimed that a missile strike targeted Salman Port in Bahrain, alleging the port was being used to transport American logistical equipment linked to military operations against Iran. There has been no independent confirmation of the claim.
In a statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the “tenth wave” of its retaliatory campaign, dubbed Operation True Promise, had begun. The statement claimed that Khaibar missiles were launched toward what it described as “occupied territories.”
Iranian state-affiliated channels on Telegram also circulated an image allegedly showing a US F-15 pilot whose aircraft was said to have crashed in Kuwait. Visuals purportedly depicting large drone formations and strikes on US-Israeli targets were also shared, though these claims remain unverified.
Amichai Stein, diplomatic correspondent for i24 News, reported that senior officials in Gulf countries were taken aback by the scale and intensity of Iran’s response.
“Out of all my conversations with senior officials in the Gulf states, they were completely shocked by the intensity of the Iranian fire,” Stein wrote on X. One official was quoted as saying that while retaliation was expected, targeting population centres marked a dangerous escalation. Another described the scale of the response as “beyond what we thought would happen.”
The latest strikes come days after a coordinated US-Israeli military operation launched on February 28, reportedly targeting Iranian military installations, missile systems, nuclear-linked facilities and leadership compounds. The offensive marked one of the most significant direct confrontations between the three countries in recent years.
As cross-border attacks continue, global leaders and international organizations have called for restraint and urgent de-escalation. However, with retaliatory strikes expanding across multiple fronts, fears are mounting that the conflict could spiral into a broader regional war.
