Forest officials solve mystery of elephant killed in Chattisgarh

A crew from the Katghora Forest Department was able to put an end to the mystery surrounding an elephant that was believed to have been murdered and buried in a field in the forest range of the Katghora Forest Division in the Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

Officials said that “a district member plotted the murder.” Adding that the primary suspect is still at large, forest officials stated that “A district official from the area devised the plan to murder an elephant that was just one year old. 12 people, including a kid, have been detained in connection with the crime; when a case has been filed, the accused will be jailed.”

The occurrence happened on October 22. According to reports, people in the Bania hamlet in the Pasan forest range of the Katghora forest division in Chhattisgarh murdered and buried an elephant that was just one years old in a field.

Official further said that this occurred shortly after a herd of elephants killed one man and three animals in the adjoining village of Dev Matti.

Katghora DFO Premlata Yadav reportedly stated that after learning of the occurrence, forest personnel went to the scene and removed the elephant’s body.

The post-mortem of the elephant carcass was performed by a group of three physicians. After the autopsy results, more steps would be taken.
