Police in Assam’s Karimganj district on Tuesday arrested two drug dealers and recovered a sizable amount of illegal substances, according to police statements on Wednesday.

Based on information from police intelligence, a police squad conducted an operation, set up a naka checking in the Mokoi Bhanga neighbourhood under the control of the Badarpur police station, and apprehended two people. The police crew found 9600 Yaba pills in their hands after conducting a thorough search.

According to Karimganj district police Sub-Inspector Pranab Mili, “Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) sir informed us that two individuals travelling from Badarpur to Bhanga with what appear to be Yaba pills. We put up a naka checking right away in the Mokoi Bhanga area and detained two people.”

We discovered 9600 Yaba pills in their possession, each weighing 1.85 kg, during the search. Both people were captured, he continued.

Hussain Ahmed and Islamuddin were named as the people who were taken into custody.

The police have opened a case in the interim.
