According to a statement from the US Embassy in India, the US Department of Commerce will lead an education trade mission to three Indian cities — Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi — with the goal of identifying and promoting opportunities for collaboration between Indian and American higher education institutions. The visit, which is scheduled to begin today, will go through Friday.
There will be a total of 21 institutes of higher learning from 15 states in the delegation. The National Education Policy of India, unveiled in 2020, described a bold strategy to restructure and expand India’s higher education system, including developing research, experiential learning, and internationalising curricula. This tour takes place against the backdrop of that announcement.
Higher education institutions in the US contribute a wealth of knowledge and industry best practises helping India meet its educational objectives.
Three education technology and service companies will also go with the group to lend their top-notch expertise to India in addition to the institutes.
Charge d’Affaires Patricia A. Lacina stated on the trip, “This trade mission will explore new collaborations in education and will further reinforce the strong and developing higher education relations between the United States and India.”
Participants in the programme will have the opportunity to visit Indian higher education institutions, student recruiters, and other stakeholders in order to hear from Indian educators and students directly.
Additionally, there will be live student fairs on September 12 in Mumbai and September 15 in New Delhi. The team will also meet with representatives from the state and federal governments, the agency overseeing education, and business leaders to get their opinions on how US institutions may collaborate with Indian businesses to advance the country’s economy.
