As the restrictions placed on owners of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles due to rising pollution ended on Sunday, they will be able to drive them on Delhi’s roads as of Monday.

A report indicates that Delhi’s air quality has been consistent over the past few days. This explains why there hasn’t been a new ban-related order issued. But according to the Delhi administration, everything is being watched. If the AQI level rises in such a circumstance, a choice can then be made on the situation’s future.

The Commission for Air Quality Management had imposed ban on the movement of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles till Sunday as part of the anti-pollution measures under Stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap).

The likelihood of the order being prolonged, according to an official, is quite low. Drivers who were caught breaking the law were fined Rs 20,000 under the prohibition. About 5,882 people were pulled over or given tickets by Delhi’s traffic police up until November 11 for operating BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers.

More than 4,000 automobiles allegedly received fines for disobeying vehicle restrictions, according to a Delhi Police official. Sunday, Saturday, and Friday saw AQI values of 303, 303, and 346 for Delhi. On Monday, agencies predict that Delhi’s AQI will slightly worsen and local wind speed will decrease.
