The movie Vikram Vedha, which stars Saif Ali Khan as a cop and Hrithik Roshan as a mobster, premiered in theatres on Friday. The Pushkar Gayathri-directed film, which opened to almost $10 crore on its first day, competed with Mani Ratnam’s much anticipated period drama Ponniyin Selvan I. review of the film Vikram Vedha

Aside from Radhika Apte, Satyadeep Mishra, Yogita Bihani, Sharib Hashmi, and Rohit Saraf, Radhika Vedha is a neo-noir action thriller. It is a remake of the same-titled Tamil film that Pushkar Gayathri directed herself.

In large markets like Gujarat and Maharashtra, Vikram Vedha fared poorly, according to a Boxofficeindia.com report. The movie’s opening numbers are comparable to those of two underwhelming films from the year, Shamshera and Samrat Prithviraj.

Critics have given Vikram Vedha favourable reviews, claiming that those who haven’t watched the original and won’t compare it to the remake would enjoy it better. Vikram Vedha is a stylized, exaggerated, and somewhat sanitised replica of a cult favourite, according to the Hindustan Times assessment of the movie. Due of its size, scope, and star power, it must be all of those things. The original scenes are omitted from the choppy remake, which may have improved the movie. But in certain instances, the creators chose flair above substance.

The fact that it isn’t obvious or at the least irritatingly choppy is a plus. Both as a thriller and a masala action movie, Vikram Vedha succeeds. In a crowded hall, it even garners a few whistles and applause. Even if it’s no longer worth $75, you’ll still receive your money’s worth.

Speaking to the news agency about his two-hero movie starring Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik said, “For the first time in my 22-year career, I felt this drive to protect myself. Since I am performing against an actor, who is the most realistic performance, I immediately felt the need to be really genuine.
