PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with Invest India and Greenstat Norway, is hosting an International Climate Summit 2022 titled “Opportunity for Green Hydrogen in India” on August 30th and 31st in Bergen, Norway.

The main purpose of this summit is to highlight India’s distinct position as an appealing destination for the production of green hydrogen due to the availability of renewable energy at the lowest possible cost.

This summit will pique the interest of investors, safety companies, hydrogen production companies, and research and development labs in collaborating with Indian partners to produce Green Hydrogen in order to make India Aatam-Nirbhar (Self-Reliant).

This is an international mega event with politicians, policymakers, stakeholders, investors, technology suppliers, and several large corporations from countries such as Norway, the European Union, the United States, and Japan expected to attend.

It would also provide an opportunity to tour hydrogen production and R&D facilities and interact with many international players. This International Climate Summit 2022 will be a watershed moment for the Indian Hydrogen Economy and Mission, with many new industry projects, tie-ups, technology transfer agreements, and joint ventures expected.

A 52-member delegation from the PHD Chamber, industry stalwarts, Government of India officials, and PSU representatives will attend the International Climate Summit – 2022, along with several oil companies from India, Norway, and the European Union.

“As you are aware, Green Hydrogen is a National Mission, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister announced five key initiatives for combating global warming in his Independence Day Speech (15th August, 2021), the first of which is the Hydrogen Mission. The Mission to Make India a Global Hub for the Production and Export of Green Hydrogen” was announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

He outlined a vision for becoming a global leader and enabling a significant domestic hydrogen economy. Hydrogen has the potential to transform India from an energy-deficient, import-dependent country to an energy-rich, net exporter.

Large corporations are making significant investments in Green Hydrogen production. Green Hydrogen will also play a key role in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s announcement at COP 26 in Glasgow in 2021. India would strive for Net Zero Emissions by 2070, with renewable resources meeting 50% of the country’s needs by 2030, resulting in a 1 billion tonne reduction in carbon emissions.

This is also very important from a global perspective, as each country must adopt measures in a collaborative effort to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius and pursue efforts to limit temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, as well as each country’s commitment to Net Zero emissions within the next 15 to 20 years.
