A carnival ride broke down late on Sunday night in Mohali, injuring several people. According to the sources, a carnival was being held at the Dussehra Ground and the incident occurred around 10 p.m. as the people were riding the vertical tower.
According to sources, at least 15 to 16 individuals, including women and children, were injured in the incident. The victims got head and neck injuries and are in a state of trauma.
“ We saw people falling from the swing when it went up. There were children and women sitting in it,” a woman in the carnival said.
DSP HS Bal told media that according to their information, four people got injured but are investigating the matter. “A carnival was being organised and the eyewitness told us that there was a technical snag in the swing and it had fallen,” DSP Bal said.
Allegedly, all of the carnival’s organizers ran away from the area. The event occurred during the Mohali Trade Fair, which was scheduled to run through September 11. Amit Talwar, the deputy commissioner for Mohali, stated that an investigation would be conducted to see whether the carnival’s organisers had approval from the relevant authorities.
Also, people say that negligence should not be tolerated in such a big fair. If proper security arrangements had been made, then such a big accident would not have happened. It should be investigated at the earliest.
