Stressing that India sees diplomacy & dialogue as the only solution to the Ukraine conflict, India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar expressed India’s stand on the Russia-Ukraine conflict at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday.

Jaishankar during his UNGA address said, “As the Ukraine conflict continues to rage, India is often asked to choose a side. Our answer is simple. India is on the side of peace and will firmly remain there. We are on the side that respects the UN Charter and its founding principles.”

EAM further clearing India’s stand on the war said, “India is on the side of those struggling to make ends meet, even as they stare at escalating costs of food, fuel and fertilisers.” Looking at the solutions and problem-solving as the war continues to disrupt lives on both sides of the border, Jaishankar said, “It is in our collective interest to work constructively, both within the United Nations and outside, in finding an early resolution to this conflict.”

While mentioning the dire consequences of the war on the world as a whole, EAM said, “Among the many consequences of the Ukraine conflict are the rising costs and shrinking availability of fuel, food and fertilizers along with trade disruptions and diversions.”
