Kavinder Gupta, a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and a former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, criticised Mehbooba Mufti for stirring up controversy after the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir accused the federal government of promoting the BJP’s “Hindutva” agenda.
Gupta criticised Mufti’s comments, saying, “May the PDP leader be blessed with excellent thoughts.”
“Mehbooba Mufti makes an effort to make everything debatable. Regarding the bhajan “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” being sung in a school in Kashmir, she has been attempting to mislead the public “said Gupta to the media.
He then criticised Mufti further, saying, “Ishwar Allah tero naam, sabko sanmati de bhagwaan is another verse in the bhajan. Please grant Mehbooba Mufti this sanmati.”
His comments followed the PDP leader sharing a video from a valley school on a microblogging website. The teachers can be seen singing a bhajan at the school in Kulgam as the youngsters join in and wave their hands.
She lambasted the administration on Twitter, writing, “Jailing religious scholars, shutting down Jama Masjid & directing school kids here to sing Hindu hymns exposes the real Hindutva agenda of GOI in Kashmir. Refusing these rabid dictates invites PSA & UAPA. It is the cost that we are paying for this so-called “Badalta J&K”.”
Earlier on September 13, Mufti had charged that the BJP was attempting to utilise sensitive sectarian issues to draw attention away from unemployment and inflation.
“The status quo of religious institutions should be maintained, according to a court decision from 1947. The BJP has not been able to end unemployment, poverty, or inflation. They, therefore, aim to divert people’s attention. The court’s decision supports this BJP thesis, “said Mufti to the news agency.
Her comments followed the Varanasi Court’s decision to reject the Anjuman Islamia Masjid committee’s appeal questioning the suit filed by five Hindu women seeking the right to pray inside the Gyanvapi mosque property as maintainable.
District Judge AK Vishvesh on September 22, rendered a decision in the Gyanvapi Shrinagar Gauri dispute case and scheduled a follow-up hearing.
“The Muslim side’s petition was denied by the court, which declared the case to be maintainable. The case will be heard again on September 22 “In the Gyanvapi mosque case, attorney Vishnu Shankar Jain, who represents the Hindu side, remarked.

Five ladies submitted the petition, which asked for authorization to allow daily worship of Hindu deities whose idols are allegedly located on the exterior wall of the nearby Gyanvapi mosque. The mosque is next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. A Varanasi court then mandated the survey of the mosque compound.
As a result, a local Varanasi court ruled in May that the facility would be videotaped. The survey work was finished on May 16 and the report was delivered in court on May 19. The Hindu side claimed that a structure that resembled a Shivling had been discovered in the mosque compound following the videography survey, but the Masjid committee argued that it was actually a fountain and not a Shivling.
The Muslim party’s petition was denied by the court, which declared the case to be maintainable. The case will be heard again on September 22.
