CM Mann denounces vices promoted by Punjabi singers, warns of stern actrion

He also warned of stern action in case of failure to do so. Notably, several Punjabi singers have often been accused of promoting pro-Khalistan sentiments through their songs.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday denounced the trend of gun culture and gang violence being “promoted” by artists of the Punjabi music industry. Mann urged Punjabi singers to refrain from fanning violence, hatred, and animosity in society through their songs. He also warned of stern action in case of failure to do so. Notably, Punjabi singers have often been accused of promoting pro-Khalistan sentiments and drugs through their songs.

CM Mann in his appeal to the artists also asked them to follow the ethos of ‘Punjab, Punjabi, Punjabiyat’ and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, peace, and harmony in the society. He further advised singers to play a constructive role in promoting the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.

Mann was quoted as saying by the Punjab CMO release, “It is our prime duty to prevail upon such singers not to encourage violence through their songs which often pervert the youth especially the children with impressionable minds. Initially, we request them not to prop up such trend failing the government would be forced to act sternly against them.”
