Navjot Singh Sidhu has sought more time to surrender on medical grounds. The court has asked him to file an application and mention it before the CJI. The Congress leader was sentenced by the Supreme court to one year in jail in a 34-year-old road rage case. After the Supreme court’s order, Sidhu tweeted that he will submit to the majesty of the law.

The Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by the family of a man who died after a brawl with the political leader and his friend. Sidhu allegedly got into a brawl with a man named Gurnam Singh, dragged him out of his car and him.

While the Sessions Court Judge Of Patiala acquitted Sidhu and his friend due to lack of evidence, the case was later challenged by the victim’s families before the Punjab and Haryana High court. The local court sentenced Sidhu to 3 years of imprisonment and then filed an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging the order.

After Navjot Singh Sidhu was sentenced to one year of imprisonment, Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s party Punjab Lok Congress took a dig at him and tweeted, “Thoko Tali.”
