Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will join the Rahul Gandhi led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ said, party leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday.

The Padyatra entered the Alappuzha district in Kerala on September 10. Ramesh while addressing a press conference said that the yatra has completed 275 km of its distance. The padyatra is a 3,570 km yatra in total which was started on September 7.

Jairam Ramesh said, “We have completed 275 km of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. We would have completed 285 by today. Priyanka Gandhi will join the yatra. She is working out to join in Kerala.”

The election of the Congress president is scheduled to be held on October 17th. When asked about the president’s election, Ramesh said that all the Congress party workers are focused on making this yatra a success.

Party leader Jairam Ramesh said that anyone is free to file the nominations or to contest in the elections referring to the reports that came in about Thiruvananthapuram MP, Shashi Tharoor getting the nod from Indian National Congress’s Sonia Gandhi to contest for the party president elections.

Shashi Tharoor had received a green signal from the interim-party president Sonia Gandhi after he expressed his desire to contest the elections to “make internal democracy” in the party stronger on Monday.
