After Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, party leader Ravidas Mehrotra has also confirmed an alliance with the Congress for the Lok Sabha Election 2024.

Mehrotra shared details of the alliance, stating that the Samajwadi Party will contest on 63 seats and the Congress on 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

“Samajwadi Party and Congress will contest the Lok Sabha elections together. This will strengthen the INDI alliance, and INDIA will form its government in 2024. Opposition parties will contest the election together. We have made efforts to prevent the scattering of non-BJP votes,” Mehrotra stated.

“Samajwadi Party will contest on 63 seats and Congress on 17 seats. We will strive to secure all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh,” he added.

Mehrotra also accused the BJP-led central government of misusing central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“The INDIA bloc will form its government in 2024. The BJP-led central government is attempting to weaken opposition parties by misusing central agencies such as the ED and CBI,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav confirmed the alliance with the Congress, assuring that details would be disclosed soon. He emphasized that there was no conflict between the two parties.

“All is well that ends well. Yes, there will be an alliance. There is no conflict. Everything will be clarified soon,” Yadav stated while speaking to reporters on Wednesday.

The Samajwadi Party and Congress are both partners in the INDIA bloc. The success of the seat-sharing discussions between them is crucial, especially after the breakdown of similar talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who has opted to contest alone in her state.

Akhilesh Yadav had conditioned his participation in the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on a decision regarding seat sharing. He mentioned that he would join the yatra once the seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are allocated between the two parties.

“Talks are currently underway, and lists have been received from both sides. The moment the seats are distributed and decided, the Samajwadi Party will join the Congress’s Nyaya Yatra,” Yadav said while speaking to reporters on Monday.

The SP Chief is expected to join the yatra on February 24-25 when it reaches Moradabad in Western UP.

Discussing the importance of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Yadav remarked, “The 2024 elections hold great significance. It is an election to safeguard the Constitution, the country’s future, the Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, and fraternity.”
