Politics is one such field where women have been seen breaking all the norms. During a day-long event of celebrating women, ITV Network’s We Women Want was delighted to have three powerful women from political field to discuss how women survive in politics, a field largely dominated by male.

The panel of women politicians consisted Rajya Sabha MP & TMC leader Sushmita Dev, Rajya Sabha MP from Congress Supriya Srinete as well as BJP Leader and actress Khushbu Sundar.

Khushbu added, “If you are beauty with intellect, you always have a barrier which people expect you not to transcend, in reference to the gender gap in the sector. This idea of ‘You are a woman and you are not to break that barrier’ is widespread, but things are changing because everyone in this room is voicing their opinions.”

It’s tough for women to survive in politics because we are not males, and we must start admitting this, but India has a history of several women who have smashed that glass barrier, Sushmita stated while describing the practical challenges in politics. To improve the situation for women, however, politics does require much more gender sensitization.

According to Supriya Srinete, a genuine discussion requires a large number of women in politics. Ultimately, I believe that you will shine regardless of where you are, based on the quality of your work.

While we also have Shakti awards 2022, the sidelined panel discussions just braced the event into an inspirational show.
