Rahul Gandhi looks like Saddam Hussain now: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Speaking at a public rally in Ahmedabad for a BJP candidate ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections next month, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed on Tuesday that Rahul Gandhi now resembles Saddam Hussain.

“I told in a television interview a few days ago that there is no problem with Rahul Gandhi’s new look. But if you have to change your looks, then at least make it like Vallabhbhai Patel or Jawaharlal Nehru. Even better if you look like Gandhiji, but why do you look more like Saddam Hussein now?” Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday as he addressed a campaign in Ahmedabad.

Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s few visits to Gujarat ahead of the elections, Sarma said, “He is invisible in Gujarat. He comes to the state like a visiting faculty… He also did not campaign in Himachal Pradesh. He is visiting only those places where there are no elections… May be because he is scared of defeat.”

“Congress’s culture is not close to India. Their practices are close to those who have not yet understood India,” the Assam chief minister said.

Himanta Biswa has been campaigning throughout Gujarat in preparation for the Assembly election. He was also in Delhi for the forthcoming MCD poll. Sarma used the recent Delhi murder to advocate for a strong leader in the country, such as Prime Minister Modi, as well as a tough rule against “love jihad” and a consistent civil code.

“Whenever Rahul Gandhi goes nowadays, he insults Savarkar who was in the prison for 26 years. How dare you! Do you think no leader apart from Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi had any contribution? But the situation has now changed,” Himanta said.
