A 39 year old man posing as a wing commander of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been arrested by the Delhi Police. He attempted to enter Palam Air Force Station using a fake ID to get medical treatment, police reported on Friday. The individual in question is Vinayak Chadha, residing in the Malka Ganj locality of Delhi.

On February 21, the accused was caught by Air Force personnel trying to enter the station. After interrogation, DCP Rohit Meena discovered that the imposter, Vinayak Chadha, sought treatment for his father, Gaurav Chadha. Consequently, he tried to obtain access using fake identification.

Deputy Commissioner Rohit Meena said, “We take security breaches very seriously, especially when it involves sensitive establishments like the Air Force. The prompt action by our forces and collaboration with the Air Force personnel ensured the immediate apprehension of the suspect.”

“A PCR call was received on February 21, regarding the unauthorized entry of one person into the premises of Air Force Station Palam, 3 Wing Camp Area, Near Sadar Bazar Metro Station, Delhi Cantt,” the police said.

The man was transferred to the investigating officer’s custody along with a forged identity card and several liquor cards bearing the names of various defense personnel, as per the police statement. Further, inquiry revealed that the defendant used the same method and breached the first layer of security by producing forged identity documents at the Air Force Dental Hospital, Thimmaya Road.

According to the police, while attempting to breach the second layer of security, Air Force security personnel apprehended him, prompting Air Force staff to place a PCR call. A written complaint was filed by a Junior Warrant Officer of the Air Force regarding the mentioned incident. A case was registered under Section 419/468/471/474 IPC at the Delhi Cantt police station. The accused is currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing, as per the police.
