Amid mounting anger, members of the Hindu community and traders in Dera Murad Jamali staged a protest against the recent abduction of a young girl named Priya Kumari, demanding swift action for her safe return, Dawn reported. Expressing dissatisfaction with the perceived incompetence of the Sindh government, protesters criticized the authorities for failing to locate and rescue Kumari, who was kidnapped from Sukkur just days ago.

Brandishing placards, the demonstrators strongly condemned what they deemed as the frequent abduction of innocent children in Sindh and raised concerns about the worsening security situation for religious minorities. Led by prominent Hindu community leaders Mukhi Manak Lal and Seth Tara Chand, the rally attracted participants from various sectors of society.

Prominent figures in attendance included Taj Baloch, representing traders, Liaqat Ali Chakar from the youth wing of JI, Mir Jan Mengal, president of the wholesale market, Molana Nawabuddin Domki, Khan Jan Bangulazi, and Harpal Das. The leaders called upon Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to take immediate and decisive action to ensure the safe return of the girl and to provide justice to the minority community.

HRFP has emphasized that individuals from various religious communities, including Christians, Hindus, Ahmadis, Sikhs, and others, have been targeted in various attacks over the past few months. Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1994 with the objective of advocating for the advancement and protection of human rights.

“The recent cases are addition to suffering, and the growing numbers has made minorities more vulnerable,” HRFP added.
