Terrorist encountered in J&k’s Baramulla; operation ongoing in Shopian

The clashes erupted when police and security personnel received specific information about the presence of terrorists in those regions.

An engagement between security personnel and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian area resulted in the death of a terrorist. Terrorists and security personnel clashed in the Pattan district of Baramulla before of Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the region.

Meanwhile, in Shopian, elements from Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), together with police officers and army personnel, are involved in a gunfight with terrorists and have apprehended some of them. A few terrorists have escaped, and a search and rescue effort is underway.

“Encounter has begun in the Chitragam area of Shopian, with police and security forces on the scene,” police stated in a tweet.

“Encounter has started at Yedipora, Pattan area of Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job,” police stated in another tweet.

The clashes erupted when police and security personnel received specific information about the presence of terrorists in those regions.

According to a police officer, the encounters began when security forces launched cordon and search operations in the Chitragam region of south Kashmir’s Shopian and the Yedipora district of north Kashmir’s Baramulla.
