Parliament Monsoon Session Day 12 LIVE: PM Modi To Address Parliamentary Party Meet Today
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is all set to resume at 11 am today. It is expected that the government will be presenting the sports bill in Lok Sabha.
Legislative work in both Houses remains at a standstill as the deadlock continues over the Opposition’s demand for an urgent debate on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. The issue sparked widespread protests on Monday, further stalling the Monsoon Session.
During the afternoon session on Monday, Deputy Speaker Jagdambika Pal noted that Parliament had not passed a single bill since the Monsoon Session began on July 21.
The session has now entered its third consecutive week of disruption, with no legislative progress recorded.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the NDA parliamentary party today, marking the first such meeting during the current Parliament session and the first in a long time.
This meeting holds special importance as the nomination process for the Vice President election starts on August 7. The NDA, with a majority in the electoral college, is expected to secure a win for its nominee without opposition.
However, the alliance must declare its candidate by August 21, which is both the nomination deadline and the final day of the Monsoon Session.
