Union Government is dedicated to stepping up and broadening the COVID-19 immunisation programme nationwide. On January 16, 2021, the countrywide COVID-19 immunisation campaign began.

COVID-19 immunisation programme for children aged 12 to 14 began on March 16, 2022. More than 4.02 Cr (4,02,51,855) teenagers have received the COVID-19 vaccine’s first dose thus far.

The availability of additional vaccinations and improved visibility of vaccine availability to States and Union Territories (UTs) have accelerated the immunisation effort, allowing for greater planning on their part and simplifying the vaccine supply chain.

Government of India has been assisting the States and UTs by giving them free COVID-19 vaccinations as part of the countrywide immunisation push.

Union Government will purchase and provide (free of charge) to States and UTs 75% of the vaccinations being manufactured by the country’s vaccine producers as part of the next phase of the COVID-19 immunisation push.
