According to Punjab Police, the weapons obtained from Pakistan ISI-backed terrorists are dangerous and are often used by the Pakistan Army. Punjab Police apprehended four members of a Pak-ISI-backed terrorist outfit on Sunday.
The suspects were linked to Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala of Canada and Gurjant Singh alias Janta of Australia. They were nabbed in Delhi after an intel-led operation carried out by Punjab Police’s counter-intelligence squad with the assistance of Delhi Police.
The Punjab Police won five-day detention from a court on Monday for four terrorists linked to criminals in Canada and Australia. “They were transported to Punjab on Sunday following their arrest for a medical assessment at the civic hospital in Mohali.” The cops have been granted 5-day detention by the court,” said police in a statement.
According to the authorities, they are well-known terrorists who obtained weaponry not even employed by the Indian Army. “Most dangerous weaponry confiscated from them, which are generally seen being utilised by the Pakistan Army,” police stated.
According to the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the police found three Chinese-made P-86 hand grenades, one IED, and two 9mm pistols, as well as 40 live cartridges, from the custody of detained individuals.
The Punjab Police have busted the third such module of cross-border smuggling of weaponry and explosives in less than a week.
Deepak Sharma of Preet Nagar in Moga, Sandeep Singh of village Kotkaror Kalan in Ferozepur, Sunny Dagar of village Ishapur in Najafgarh in Delhi, and Vipin Jakhar, a resident of Goyla Khurd in New Delhi, were among those detained.
“Following reliable information that Arsh Dala associates are being housed by Vipin Jakhar at his residence in village Goyla Khurd in New Delhi, teams of Punjab Police’s SSOC Mohali and Dwarka Police conducted a raid at their premises on Friday and managed to arrest them after recovering two 9mm pistols (foreign-made) along with 40 live cartridges,” said DGP Gaurav Yadav.
According to the DGP, the investigation has revealed that Deepak Sharma, a history-sheeter, was wanted by the Punjab Police in two cases, including the murder of Moga-based Jaswinder Singh alias Jassi in March 2022, and another for firing on the house of Panchayat Secretary of Village Dala, Moga, in June 2022. While accused Sandeep, who had lately returned to India from Dubai, had supplied Deepak with logistical help to carry out the shooting at the Panchayat Secretary’s residence.
“The Punjab Police has begun the procedure to extradite him from Canada, and he will be brought to India shortly,” DGP Gaurav Yadav said.
Notably, the Red Corner Notice was issued against Arsh Dala in May 2022.
