In his complaint, Upendra Singh Rawat alleged that some people deliberately posted fake videos to tarnish his reputation after he was elected

Bharatiya Janata Party MP Upendra Singh Rawat withdrew his candidacy from Barabanki seat in Uttar Pradesh after an indecent video featuring him was released. Barabanki MP Rawat was initially included in the BJP’s candidate list for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

After video surfaced showing Upendra Singh Rawat in an abusive relationship with a foreign woman, he denied it and lodged an FIR accordingly. In his complaint, he alleged that some people deliberately posted fake videos to tarnish his reputation after he was elected.

Rawat addressed the issue on the social media platform and claimed that the video was changed using DeepFake AI technology. He said he would not contest the general elections until he was proven innocent and asked the national commission to investigate the matter.

On February 2, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced the preliminary list of 195 candidates, including 34 leaders, for the Lok Sabha elections. Despite the controversies, Upendra Singh Rawat was elected as the BJP candidate from Barabanki constituency.
