CUET exam centres changed from Kannur to Kanpur: CPI(M) MP writes to Dharmendra Pradhan, seeks intervention

Common University Entrance Test (PG) 2022 students from Kannur in Kerala were assigned exam centres in Kanpur in distant Uttar Pradesh.

Common University Entrance Test (PG) 2022 students from Kannur in Kerala were assigned exam centres in Kanpur in distant Uttar Pradesh. Communist Party of India (Marxist) Rajya Sabha MP V Sivadasan from Kerala wrote to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighting their plight and requesting his intervention in the matter.

In a letter to the education minister, Sivadasan stated: “This is to politely draw your attention to the major problems that the Kannur district’s CUET (PG) 2022 applicants are now experiencing. Many students have told me that they have chosen Kannur as their test city and that they have been notified that Kannur would be their exam site. However, when the admission cards were made public, they discovered to their utter dismay that Kanpur, a remote region, had been chosen as the exam site.”

CPI-M MP said that, “It is very hard for students to go from Kannur to Kanpur on such short notice because the CUET (PG)-2022 examinations will begin on September 1. It is quite worrying that the National Testing Agency provided false information, depriving every student of their fundamental right to pursue a career at a prestigious Central University.”

Sivadasan urged the Union Education Minister to treat the situation urgently and to take the necessary action for the test takers.

“I implore you to take the situation as urgent and implement necessary actions so that the genuine opportunities of each CUET(PG) candidate are safeguarded,” letter’s author stated.
