Indian Army Officer Gets Kidnapped From His Home In Manipur

Initial reports indicate that the motive behind the abduction might be extortion, as Kheda Singh’s family had previously received threats of this nature

A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army, Konsam Kheda Singh, was abducted from his residence in Manipur’s Thoubal district. Around 9 am, individuals forcibly entered the house at Charangpat Mamang Leikai, taking Kheda Singh with them in a vehicle before fleeing.

Initial reports indicate that the motive behind the abduction might be extortion, as Kheda Singh’s family had previously received threats of this nature. A search operation is underway to rescue JCO Kheda Singh, who was abducted from his home, leading to checks on all vehicles on National Highway 102.

The Army officer was on leave when the abduction occurred. This incident follows the recent abduction of Manipur Police officer Moirangthem Amit Singh on February 27, where about 200 gunmen stormed his home in Imphal West district. Amit Singh’s abduction was reportedly carried out by the Meitei vigilante group Arambai Tenggol.

These abductions are part of the ongoing unrest in Manipur, marked by ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 3 of the previous year.
