Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor were detained; Congress leaders protesting across the country

Security has been stiffened in many places. Section 144 has been imposed across the New Delhi area, except Jantar Mantar.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Shashi Tharoor were detained on Friday as they marched to Rashtrapati Bhavan to protest difficulties with inflation, price increases, GST, and unemployment. Security has been stiffened in many places. Section 144 has been imposed across the New Delhi area, except Jantar Mantar.

Congress is protesting even when the Delhi police didn’t give permission for it. The Vijai Chowk road and the path from Parliament to the President’s House have been blocked by barricades put up by the paramilitary forces and Delhi police.

Rahul Gandhi launched a protest against the government, saying “India is witnessing the death of democracy.” In a press conference, he said, “What India has built brick by brick, starting almost a century ago, is being destroyed in front of your eyes. Anybody who stands against this idea of onset of dictatorship is viciously attacked, jailed, arrested, and beaten up.”

Meanwhile, protests are happening in other places across the nation. Some Congress leaders in Mumbai have been detained at Azad Maidan police station.
