Tamil Nadu CM Stalin's son Udhayanidhi sworn in as cabinet minister

MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, was sworn in as a cabinet minister in Tamil Nadu today.

MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, was sworn in as a cabinet minister in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

Udhayanidhi, the DMK’s youth wing secretary, was sworn in by Governor RN Ravi at Chennai’s Durbar Hall at Raj Bhavan. Udhayanidhi took the oath of office in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin. At Raj Bhavan, he is in charge of Youth Welfare and Sports Development.

After entering office, Udayanidhi visited the monument of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister CN Annadurai.

Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Tweeted in Tamil saying “I thank and compliment Hon’ble Chief Minister @mkstalin for giving me the opportunity to serve in the Dravidian model government cabinet, which executes social justice initiatives and safeguards Tamils’ welfare. I shall always work with responsibility without regard for the position.”

The number of ministers in Stalin’s cabinet has now risen to 35.

The MLA from Tamil Nadu’s Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni Assembly Constituency made his electoral debut in the state’s 2021 assembly election. He has also experimented in movies and has been in a number of films.

Udhayanidhi’s father Stalin became an MLA in 1989, and he was appointed to the cabinet by his father M Karunanidhi in 2006.

Meanwhile, opposition parties in the state, particularly the AIADMK and the BJP, have criticised Udhayanidhi’s appointment as a cabinet minister for its dynastic politics.
