Sudhir wins gold in men's heavyweight Para Powerlifting

Sudhir created history by winning the gold medal in the men’s heavyweight final at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Sudhir lifted 208 kg in his first attempt and went on to take the lead with 212 kg in his second attempt.

The 27-year-old Sudhir has an impairment due to the effects of polio. He opened India’s para sports medal account in the ongoing CWG.

Ikechukwu Christian Obichukwu won the silver and Micky Yule took the bronze.

India has already won 19 medals including 5 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze Commonwealth Games 2022.
