During a demonstration against the Centre’s Agnipath plan in Telangana’s Secunderabad, demonstrators set a train on fire and damaged railway property, according to Railway Police.
Anuradha, the Secunderabad Railway SP, stated, “Protesters ranged in number from 1500 to 3000. They also engaged in stone-pelting, which resulted in the injuries of some police officers.”
As per the Indian Penal Code, Sections 143, 147, 324, 307, 435, 427, 448, 336, 332, and 341 have been filed against them.
SP has stated that the number of people participating in the attacks had yet to be determined and that property damage had still to be assessed.
“We will take precautions to guarantee that train travel is not disrupted. We will take the appropriate efforts to ensure that such incidents do not occur again “she continued.
Meanwhile, 260 rioters have been booked in UP against Agnipath protests.
Protests over the recently announced military recruitment programme, Agnipath, in Telangana’s Secunderabad became violent on Friday, killing one person.
During a demonstration against the Centre’s Agnipath programme, agitators vandalised the Secunderabad Railway Station and set a train on fire. Protesters smashed train windows and set fire to a two-wheeler on tracks as well as a few bags on the platform.
A TSRTC bus was also vandalized at the Secunderabad bus station by protesters.
To disperse the enraged throng at the railway station, Telangana Police used aerial fire.
However, Protesters marched for the third day in a row in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, among other places throughout the country.
They vandalized the windows of a train and set fire to a two-wheeler on tracks and a few bags on the platform at the Secunderabad Railway station. Trains to the region have been terminated by the railway.
Protesters had already set fire to compartments of a train in Samastipur and another train at Lakhisarai station.
The Agnipath recruitment strategy for Indian youngsters to serve in the Armed Forces was authorized by the Union Cabinet on June 14. Agniveers are young people who have been selected for this programme and will serve in the Armed Forces for four years.
