The Uttar Pradesh Government has terminated Renuka Mishra from her position as Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board on Tuesday, following the cancellation of the police constable recruitment examination due to allegations of a question paper leak. Renuka Mishra has been put on the ‘wait list’ and Director Vigilance Rajeev Krishna has been appointed as the interim Chairperson of the Recruitment Board, official sources said.

Over 48 lakh candidates participated in the constable recruitment exam on February 17 and 18. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board officially annulled the written examination for direct recruitment-2023 to the posts of reserved civilian police in Uttar Pradesh Police on February 24.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the cancellation of the police constable recruitment examination statewide due to the alleged paper leak. He stated that the re-examination would be conducted within six months. Adityanath emphasized that severe action would be taken against those responsible for the leak, reaffirming the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of examinations and ensuring justice for the affected candidates.

Furthermore, the Uttar Pradesh government has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities and misconduct in the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) examination at the government level, separate from the paper leak issue.The Uttar Pradesh government has additionally declared the initiation of a Special Task Force to probe the allegations.
