A stampede that occurred at Gymkhana grounds as a sizable crowd of cricket fans gathered to buy tickets for the third T20I match between India and Australia resulted in four people being hurt.
The third T20I stadium between India and Australia will be held on September 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. To buy tickets, a sizable crowd had gathered at the Gymkhana grounds. It was seen that there was a long line of fans waiting to purchase tickets.
However, things quickly got out of hand and a rush broke out as overly enthusiastic supporters flocked in, disrupting law and order. In order to disperse the large throng and regain control, police used lathi charges.
In terms of the overall series between these two teams, Australia presently holds a 1-0 advantage.
In the first T20I at Mohali, India lost captain Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (2) for cheap scores after being given the opportunity to bat first by Australia. Men in Blue struggled at 35/2 as a result. KL Then, with a 68-run partnership, Rahul (55) and Suryakumar Yadav (46) stabilised the innings. The innings was then declared at 208/6 after Hardik Pandya’s magnificent 71* off just 30 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes.
The most productive Australian bowlers were the pacers Josh Hazlewood (2/39) and Nathan Ellis (3/30).
Australia got off to a strong start in their chase of 209 thanks to quickfire 39-run partnership between openers Aaron Finch (22) and Cameron Green. Green and Steve Smith put together a 70-run stand with some truly stunning shots (35). Green was called out after striking 61 points off of 30 balls.
After this, Men in Blue recovered in the game, taking the wickets of Smith, Glenn Maxwell (1), and Josh Inglis (17) in the space of just 36 runs.
However, the Australians won the match by four wickets thanks to a 62-run partnership between debutant Tim David (18) and wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade (45*), who finished the innings at 211/6.
‘Man of the Match’ was awarded to Cameron Green for his 61 and 1/46.
At the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, the second T20I game will take place on Friday.
